Requesting deletion of your data

Appido is a tool that businesses use to answer people who write to their Telegram channel. If you have written to a business's bot, or commented under its channel's posts, we hold a copy of that conversation on their behalf.

How to ask

Email appido.pro@gmail.com with the subject Data deletion request.
Include your Telegram user number — the numeric id, not a name. We cannot identify you from an email address, because we never collect one from you; and a @username is optional in Telegram and can be changed by whoever holds it, so it is not a safe handle for deleting somebody's data. Any Telegram client will show you your own number, and so will forwarding one of your messages to a bot that reports it.
You do not have to remember which business it was. Ask us and we will find every workspace that holds anything of yours, because your Telegram user number is the same everywhere in Telegram.
We will confirm within 30 days, send you a tracking code, and complete the deletion within 30 days.

You can check the state of a request at any time by opening https://api.appido.io/erasure/status?code=YOUR-CODE, with the code we sent you in place of YOUR-CODE. That page shows only that one request's state — never who you are, and never which businesses held your data.

Why this is an email address and not a form that deletes on the spot. A Telegram user number is the same everywhere in Telegram, and anyone can read one off a forwarded message. A public page that deleted whatever number it was handed would be a working way to destroy a stranger's conversations. So the request is read by a person before anything is deleted, and it is why we ask for the number rather than deleting on the strength of whoever typed it.

You can also just leave

Blocking the bot in Telegram stops it from ever writing to you again, immediately and permanently: nobody can undo that but you, not the business and not us. Sending /stop has the same effect on the messages while leaving the conversation in place. Neither of them deletes what we already hold — use one of the requests above for that.

What gets deleted

Your contact record, including your Telegram user number and the name shown on it.
Every message you exchanged with the business, in both directions.
The comments of yours we stored, and the conversation itself.
The record that you joined or left the channel.

What we cannot delete. Messages you sent still exist in Telegram, and that copy belongs to Telegram — you would need to delete it there, and a public comment under a channel post is visible to everyone until it is removed in Telegram. We also keep a minimal, non-identifying record that a deletion happened, because we have to be able to show that we honoured it.

If a business stops using Appido

When a business closes its account we delete its workspace and everything in it — every conversation, every comment, every count — within 30 days, and we disconnect the bot that was answering for it. Telegram's Bot Developer Terms require this in section 4.2: data is deleted on request, when it is no longer needed, and on the cessation of the service. We do all three, whether or not anybody asks.
